The volunteers in this project will work to teach English. Many of our children do not understand English very well especially with the American accent. 

Construction

May-August

 

TEAP is in process of acquiring land where to build children’s home, women rehabilitation center and school. Volunteers will help provide TEAP with a permanent premises where children and women can meet and others to stay. This will include children’s home, women rehabilitation center, and classrooms for children’s school. This project will require hands on participation whereby the volunteers will do manual work on construction.

Volunteers will aim to help build the capacity of TEAP AT OFFICE AND ORGANIZATIONAL LEVELS, help train office staff in various office skills including book keeping, computer and etc. We are looking for participants to bring new ideas for effective and appropriate development while at the same time strengthening the organization.

Youth Initiative

Volunteers in this project will have an opportunity to feed children, teach simple songs, teach indoor and outdoor games, and coordinate/ help with Vacation Bible School.

Medical/ Dental

April, August and November

 

Volunteers will spend 1-2 days medical clinics in specific target locations doing health screening, dental services, eye site checks and distribution of prescription glasses and reading glasses. The will also participate in communicable diseases screening, HIV/AIDS testing and guidance, breast cancer and cervical cancer screening and provide guidance to the patient.

 

 

 

Women Empowerment

Activities during project will include fellowship with women, allowing them to speak out on their needs, problems, struggles and success stories. Also to train women in such basic skills as business startups, book keeping, raising children, knowing differences between girls/boys development. Volunteers will teach women and youth to use computers and internet for marketing their products and teach sewing and other general knowledge.There will also be an opportunity to speak in revival meetings, seminars and conferences.
