ABOUT US

IThe Empowerment Action Program (TEAP) is a non for profit organization; based organization established 2014 at Nansana Wakiso district with branches and later developed a branch at Mukono Municipality which is as well registered as CBO in Mukono District. The organization carries out its activities in fields of capacity building, women empowerment, and child development, support to people with disabilities and HIV/AIDS prevention and support. TEAP works as an empowering organization to other CBOs and NGOs in technical support, as well as an independent Organization that helps women, children, people with disabilities by providing them with financial skills and income generating activities, psycho-social counseling, parenting skills to especially young mothers and to provide shelter, food and medical care the needy. TEAP is governed by an executive committee which manages its affairs on committee basis.

There are many grassroots organizations with good objectives and commitment, but some of them lack appropriate management structures and capacity to carry out their intended objectives. Some lack technical knowledge and others only have management systems in legal documents which are nonfunctional. Although these organizations are capable of offering good and needed services in their communities, some of them have never accessed funding while  those that are funded end up not knowing what to do and how. It is also evident that many worthwhile organizations, doing tremendous work out there, some do not have proper documentation or records backing their good work. Obviously there are people with vision and passion to bring change and hope to humanity, yet some are not experts in such fields and yet they struggle to do what is on their hearts without knowing what is involved.

It was a tiresome adventure each day seeing CBO/NGO leaders coming to me each day to seek for advice and guidance on how they can carry out certain tasks. Some wanted help on writing project proposals and grants applications; others could come to seek new connections for financial support while others did not even spell out what they really wanted. It is painful and overwhelming to see these committed men and women who found themselves in the social development sector without knowing what is involved. Due to the problem identified from the community based organizations and NGOs, a group of concerned members decided to develop a system where they can mobilize resources and be able to help those who needed such help. Against this background The Empowerment Action Program was developed.
